China Restaurant Mandarin in Essen

So first of all thank you for this delicious treat today. We ordered the first time today and were so excited. We ordered from the delicious Peking soup and fresh spring rolls, super delicious baked duck and baked chicken with curry rose. Fried rice and noodles. Everything was packed separately, rice sauce and the meat were all packed separately. It arrived mega hot and we were just blown away. Meat super crispy and juicy vegetables fresh and crunchy. By far the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. I can only recommend it and now I'm crammed onto the couch. We will definitely order again.

We used to eat there a lot. We liked it very much. For some time now, the taste has decreased a lot. Either another kitchen staff is working or there is simply no more effort! We wanted to try again after a while and had food delivered to us earlier. The food is too slow and it just tasted like curry! Never again! Pity!

Absolutely great! I went to eat here with my girlfriend and we both loved it. The service was great, the atmosphere was very pleasant. Of course, the really delicious food should not go unmentioned. The Mandarin restaurant is a "real" Chinese restaurant and not an all you can eat buffet. For the bargain hunters: The prices are very humane and when you see what you get for it, I think it's cheap. I haven't eaten so good Chinese in a long time. I can only recommend a visit personally. I will definitely come back.

The employee was overwhelmed, unfortunately did not even let you finish speaking and rated this as "no time" - it was only Wednesday, what do you do on the weekend? I found the waiting time for the food too long, the food in general was not properly seasoned and the rice didn't really taste.

We had to wait almost an hour for the food. Then came a spring roll for the starter which was only filled with bean sprouts. My starter soup was similar to a sweet and sour sauce. Then there were guests on the spot who were shouting through the shop, whose children were not behaving and running through the whole shop and behaving completely asocial. They apparently did not know consideration for other guests. The employees seem to ignore this and do not notice that others feel disturbed by it. We hardly ate the main course. Very slow and nothing special. I don't know what happened to the store, but you can't go there anymore

In the past, I was always there with children, family .. I always ordered duck. The duck made them great. But now 2-3 days ago I was there with the man and we ordered duck .. but this time they brought 100-150 grams of meat with a lot of fried duck fat ... Something I've never experienced before ... Without conscience they give some reschte ... terrible

A shame "Mandarin"; - unfortunately that was NOTHING !! Conclusion: - bad, annoyed and overwhelmed staff - mediocre food, grade 4! -Inadequate attention to drinks and payment My wife and I have visited this restaurant many times over the past few years and have always been absolutely delighted with the staff and the food. But in the meantime the owners and the staff have changed and you can feel that clearly! We were in the restaurant on Friday evening (October 9th, 2020, 7:00 p.m.) with a long-time friend and were shocked at the result. The staff was already overwhelmed with the table allocation at the entrance and needed almost 25 minutes (!) To take THREE drinks. Ordering the food should be a highlight: Although the restaurant was not fully occupied, the waiters seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. When my wife asked about a dish as to whether the specified chicken was breaded or wrapped in batter, which the female waitress probably didn't understand linguistically, she asked her waiter colleague to help. He pointed to the menu without a word and snapped at my wife; "You can read it here"; - but there was nothing in this regard. The question just wasn't answered. The food tasted okay, even though I had ordered a sweet and sour sauce with my dish, which was anything but that. You had to wait for what felt like an "eternity" for the drinks and you had to walk to the counter yourself to pay, as the waiters did not bring a bill to the table despite repeated requests! Incomprehensible! I sincerely hope that the new owners learn, take criticism seriously and improve as quickly as possible, otherwise I see black. We cannot currently recommend the restaurant. Fits .. Good, tasty, friendly ... One point deduction because it is a bit more expensive than others like us, but of course it also has different rental costs than a restaurant outside

Today we were in Mandarin and ate with four different meats a menu for the second That was the best Chinese food we got there for years. The service was super friendly!

We have enjoyed going to Mandarin for years. Today the food was the best we ate. It was always delicious, but today it was amazing ???. The service was also so nice and tried hard. We would love to come back.

We have known this restaurant for about 20 years, today we were unfortunately disappointed, the food did not taste as delicious as usual. Is there maybe a new cook ???

'ATTENTION: NEW OWNER' Steil Berg has been going down since the change of ownership Not one dish tasted from the starter to the dessert. Half of the ingredients are missing. Service staff have completely replaced them. The current employees are moody and in a bad mood. I miss the old Chinese Mandarin restaurant.

The duck is fantastic!

Go there for 25 years. The food is delicious. The shark fins soup and spring roll are divine. The prices are absolutely fair. The waitress, known to me for years, could have a smile on her face from time to time, but you get used to it. She does not mean it bad.

Lacking a buffet, they have a menu system (for one or two people) to compensate, with a soup, entree and a dessert. The menu is huge and can be overwhelming for first time visitors. The Peking soup was excellent. The entree comprising of a variety of meats tasted a bit underseasoned, and the vegetables, while fresh, made the whole dish seem anemic. The dessert of fried bananas was suprisingly good, considering Chinese restaurants in general dont have much in terms of dessert. 3.5 stars, four because of the ambient, though I would lower expectations if one seeks a gourmet experience.

Food was quite tasty. For 2 euros extra a portion of noodles added, portion was 2 sizes smaller than the rice that you would get. Very impersonal and unfriendly staff. Unfortunately. We are unfortunately not coming back.

We've been going there for years and it's still as good as it was many years ago. Nice that something so good does not change. This restaurant can only be recommended.

This place is fantastic !! The place is beautiful and the food super good! The dishes are very abundant indeed we have ordered little by little because surprised by the amount! We did not expect so much quality in the dishes and instead we returned immediately the next day to try again and try new dishes. I really recommend this place for the prices that are great! Only flaw, only one waiter spoke barely English so it was hard to ask for information for the rest, I would stay there again today !!!
